KONJAC SPONGES are becoming increasingly popular. Made from 100% pure natural Konjac root, elephant yam, that naturally cleanse, exfoliate and nourish skin.

Konjac sponges are made from the dried and ground root of the Konjac that is native to Asia. Konjac sponges have been used by the Asian cultures for 100 years, and have used the Konjac root for way longer.

How do they make the Konjac sponge? The process is simple enough. Konjac powder is mixed with calcium hydroxide, heated, frozen and then dried. The calcium yields an alkaline end product that helps to balance an overly acidic skin pH. Sometimes powdered charcoal or green or red clay is added to benefit different skin types and further draw out skin impurities, hence the colors of the sponges.

A konjac sponge is like body brushing for your face. It’s also helpful for dry patches, acne, blackheads and eczema.

Konjac naturally nourishes with vitamins A, B, C, D and E, proteins, lipids, fatty acids, copper, zinc, iron, and magnesium. This wonder veggie even has antioxidants! Unlike other exfoliators that harm the environment, Konjac is completely natural, eco-friendly, non-toxic and biodegradable (no harmful plastic micro-beads).

The Konjac sponge has enough innate cleansing properties on its own that some people (myself included) have success using it with just water. Research shows that Konjac even inhibits the bacteria that produce acne.

There are different colored sponges, all with a specific use and come in a variety of fun shapes such as half sphere, flat circle, heart, teardrop:

***100% Pure Konjac (white) = It’s what it says, 100% pure & plain Konjac for all skin types

***Bamboo Charcoal (grey) = added carbon to kill blackheads and get rid of excess oil.

***Green Tea = Soft skin.

***Orange Citrus = Hydration.

Konjac sponges are softer than loofahs and many other face exfoliators. You may not feel like it is exfoliating your facial skin, but it is. You do not need to use a harsh, rough exfoliator like loofah on our face. A water barrier forms over the surface of the sponge which makes it feel very slick (almost slimy) and, well spongy, but it IS working.

HOW TO USE YOUR NEW KONJAC SPONGE:
*When you get your new Konjac sponge it is small and rather hard. Soak the sponge in warm water for 15 minutes before the first use. Once you’ve used it, it will only need soaking for a minute or two before it softens and expands to about one and a half times its size.
*Gently squeeze the excess water out by pressing the Konjac sponge. Don’t be rough with it. Apply a small amount of cleanser (if desired), or just use the sponge plain.
*Rub the Konjac sponge on the face in upward, circular motions. Concentrate on dry or blackhead-prone areas. It is a mild exfoliator, so it may feel like you need to scrub hard to get it to work, but that is NOT necessary. These sponges will remove dirt, sunscreen, and even makeup.
*Rinse the Konjac sponge well with warm water and gently squeeze the excess water. Do not twist, wring or pull on it.
*Hang it to dry or put it on a rack with airflow. Alternately, you can keep the sponge in a sealed container in your fridge. Make sure to store it away from light and humidity. Right next to your steamy shower isn’t the best option.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR NEW KONJAC SPONGE:
**Every 2 weeks, place your Konjac sponge in very hot (but not boiling) water for about 5 minutes to disinfect it.
**It is time to replace the sponge when it no longer expands properly and starts to disintegrate.

Each Konjac Sponge comes in a sealed pouch.

There may be variations to each bar's color, shape, scent and/or form because the essentials are handmade with natural ingredients. Some bars made with vanilla will brown overtime. Soap continues to cure overtime and the weight may slightly decrease over time, however, this will give you a longer lasting bar of soap. Packaging may vary from the photo.
